WNC RECOVERY AND RESILIENCE PARTNERSHIP URGES TRUMP AND NOEM TO MAINTAIN BRIC
The WNC Recovery and Resilience Partnership—comprising over 16 communities in Western North Carolina—is urging President Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to preserve funding for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program. They also advocate for reforms to ensure the program better supports local efforts to mitigate natural disaster risks. North Carolina has received $224 million across 75 BRIC-funded projects, which support essential infrastructure improvements. The Partnership warns that losing $9.6 million in unobligated BRIC funds could force local governments to divert resources from recovery to mitigation or cancel vital projects, hindering regional recovery. Constituents are encouraged to show support by contacting their congressional representatives.
